Thirty-six BILLION cups per year!?!?!?!?

I wanted to continue learning about the United Kingdom this evening. I know that they drink quite a bit of tea in the UK. I did not know that they consume thirty-six BILLION cups per year!  That is a lot of tea!  This works out to approximately 532 cups per person per year!  Tea was introduced in the UK in the 1600s. It was initially a luxury for the upper class. The aristocracy adoption of tea gave it prestige and as it became more affordable, it spread to all classes of society. It eventually became a social ritual. Afternoon tea is a daily part of life in the UK. To learn more about tea consumption in the UK, watch the YouTube video or click the image below!!
